The Story

Born in Yokohama,
at home in Linda Vista.

Owner Sera was born and raised in Yokohama and has called San Diego home for nearly fifteen years. She opened the first Sushi Yorimichi in the heart of Linda Vista in 2021. The idea was simple. Bring the feeling of a real Japanese izakaya, the after-work spot where friends linger over small plates and a drink, to the neighborhood, at prices that stay friendly.

The food is authentic Japanese with a few playful detours. Tonkotsu and shoyu ramen sit beside a Tijuana-leaning birria ramen and an udon take on carbonara. Yakitori, sashimi, hand rolls and sushi bowls round it out, generous and genuinely affordable.

As one regular put it, there is a hominess here you would not trade for anything.

The Room

Lanterns, shoji screens,
and a cooler full of stickers.

Step in and it reads authentic right away. Shoji screens and paper lanterns, no-frills wood, plastic nigiri models by a bonsai, and a sushi case plastered in JDM street-racer stickers. The original on Ulric is an intimate hole-in-the-wall. The Linda Vista Road room is bigger, with deep wooden booths, room for big parties, an upscale-Tokyo calm, an expanded sake and beer list, and a row of gachapon capsule-toy machines by the door.

“One of our favorite LV restaurants. We have introduced it to many who have become fans of the great food and service.”

“Before I even picked up a menu, the place feels uncannily authentic. A hominess I wouldn’t trade for anything.”

Sushi Yorimichi, this website is already built.

I built this before we ever talked, on purpose. It is easier to react to a real site than a sales pitch. If you want it online, I can have it live this week at sushiyorimichi.com.
